In 2015, a client came to us because she had had major problem with a contractor and the renovation had come to a standstill. Her husband made the decision that she should work with us because she loves what we do so much.
Then possibly pay a little more was the motto.

Piet Hein Eek was allowed to design numerous things. First of all, the children’s rooms, the entire upper floor and the ground floor would follow later. The biggest challenge was the corridor with the cupboard wall that the carpenter had left without the doors in (these turned out to be warped). Installing doors over the full length would create a dull image, so Piet Hein devised a surface of scrap wood tiles to enliven the surfaces.
The tiles were more or less the same size as the stained glass window at the end of the corridor.
The idea for the scrap wood tiles was the reason for the scrap wood tile cabinet.

After this, various versions of the tile cabinet were designed and made, including this old oak tile cabinet (see BOOK 3, pp. 293-295 and pp. 340-341).

Made of old oak, plywood (interior) and brass hinges. Currently on display in our showroom.
